Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Peter Poole MBE
Ambassador for Yorkshire
Commissioned from Sandhurst in 1968, Peter followed an Army career that saw service in Germany, Northern Ireland, the Falkland Islands and Hong Kong. For much of his service career he owned and took a keen interest in horses and Chaired garrison saddle clubs in Germany and Hong Kong. He retired from the army in 2002 and joined Combat Stress as a Regional Welfare Officer looking after the interests of veterans in the North East of England. He was appointed Director of Welfare in 2008 and appointed Acting and then Interim Chief Executive in 2014. He finally retired in 2016.
Peter was Chair of the North East Region Veterans’ Advisory and Pension Committee until 2020, is Vice Chair of his Regimental Association and has been a Trustee of “Never Such Innocence” (A charity giving children and young people a voice on conflict) since 2017.
Peter still owns and rides horses and takes an interest in a wide range of competitive equine events.
