Car Park Redevelopments at Tedworth Equestrian Centre

Thanks to Lovell’s generosity, Tedworth Equestrian will be able to accommodate 40% more cars at our Tedworth Park equestrian centre.
On Wednesday (23rd September) we welcomed General Ashley Truluck, High Sheriff of Wiltshire and Chair of the Wiltshire Community Foundation, and members of the Lovell Board of Directors to Tedworth Equestrian Centre to open the newly redeveloped car park.
Since 2016, the Lovell Major Projects team has supported the Bulford and Tidworth Garrison, helping to provide 917 Service Family Homes on Salisbury Plain as part of the Army Basing Programme. Lovell have generously extended this support to our equestrian centre, contributing to our long-term improvements programmed by upgrading our car park facilities. Thanks to Lovell’s work, our car park has been resurfaced and extended, creating 40% more space for visitors to our centre.

John Leary, Lovell’s Major Project Director, cut the ribbon and officially opened the new car park and acknowledged the support of Renelec who, led by Rick O’Shea, assisted Lovell with the centre’s car park development. Tedworth Equestrian CEO, Lt. Col. Jamie Balls, led the group in a tour of the centre and polo club, during which our guests were introduced to some of the 56 polo ponies housed in the stables.
The increased parking facilities will make the centre more accessible to those seeking our support. During their tour, the group met Debbie Lumsden, whose daughter Teagan has been riding at the centre for the past two years. Debbie said: “The Riding Club has been great for us. It’s local, safe and both myself and my daughter have made friends here at the centre. The centre is well run, the horses are excellent and they are so well cared for.”
General Truluck and the Lovell Board had the chance to see the excellence of our horses for themselves, being introduced to PT, a 17’2 grey stallion frequently used in our equine therapy sessions.
Alongside our riding lessons and therapies, the riding centre hosts a range of high-level and international competitions, all of which will also benefit from the car park improvements. Pip Lake, Director of Tedworth Park Riding, said: “The increase in parking facilities is such an improvement as, particularly on competition days when space is at a premium, we have to accommodate not just the riders but also the large number of trailers, horse boxes and transporter vans.”
At the end of the tours, light refreshments at the Polo pavilion provided the opportunity to discuss future plans for our centre’s development, especially our hopes of renovating the groom’s quarters. Providing comfortable accommodation would enable us to deliver residential therapy and education courses, and therefore to offer another level of support to those who need it most.
Tedworth Equestrian are extremely grateful to Lovell for their continued support of the Armed Forces Community, and hope that our strong working relationship will provide a firm base going forward.
